Verdict in 30 seconds

If you still think of Writesonic as a cheap “AI article writer,” the pricing page will surprise you. In October 2026 it leads with tracking which prompts mention your brand in ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews, then fixing gaps with content, site audits and agentic workflows. Articles are bundled in with a monthly cap, and entry is $79 a month on annual billing.

Buy Writesonic if you run SEO or content for a business or client site and want AI-search tracking and article production in one subscription. Skip it if you just need blog drafts or short copy on a small budget: the plans are priced for marketing teams, not hobbyists. Start with the free trial (no credit card needed, per the pricing page) and check the limits that matter: articles, tracked prompts and users.

What Writesonic is in 2026

Writesonic’s docs describe it as a platform for tracking and boosting your brand’s visibility in both AI search and traditional search, combining SEO and what it calls generative engine optimization (GEO). Its homepage headline is “Win customers from AI search,” and the pricing page promises to help you “find which prompts recommend your competitors instead of you” and “fix it with AI agents.”

The current plans bundle four things:

  • AI search visibility tracking: prompts and answers monitored across ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews on the self-serve plans.
  • Content and SEO: a monthly allowance of AI articles plus site audits.
  • Action Center: a prioritized to-do list of visibility fixes. It’s a limited trial on Growth and full access on Enterprise only.
  • Agentic workflows: limited “trial runs” on self-serve plans.

The old pitch was “write more content faster.” The new one is “measure how AI answers talk about you, then produce content to close the gap.” If you only want the first, you’ll pay for a lot you may not use. Our Jasper review covers a tool closer to a classic writing assistant.

Writesonic pricing

Here is what Writesonic’s official US pricing page showed on October 26, 2026 (07:01–07:02 BRT). The page defaults to annual billing; a Monthly/Annual switch changes the price. Prices are per plan per month, not per user.

Plan Annual billing Monthly billing AI articles/mo Tracked prompts Site audits/mo Users / projects
Starter $79/mo $99/mo 15 50 10 (100 pages each) 1 / 1
Basic $199/mo $249/mo 25 100 20 (1,200 pages each) 2 / 1
Growth $399/mo $499/mo 50 200 50 (2,500 pages each) 3 / 2
Enterprise Custom Custom Custom Custom Custom Custom

Annual plans are billed upfront for 12 months, per the page’s FAQ. On the posted prices the annual rate saves $240 a year on Starter, $600 on Basic and $1,200 on Growth, matching the page’s “Save 20%” label (our math: monthly minus annual rate, times 12).

What changes as you move up the tiers, according to the plan cards:

  • Starter: tracks ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews, 50 prompts and 50 answers tracked daily, ads monitoring, 10 trial runs of agentic workflows, standard email support.
  • Basic: 100 prompts and 300 answers tracked daily, 50 workflow trial runs, standard email support.
  • Growth: 200 prompts and 600 answers tracked daily, sentiment analysis included, an Action Center trial (5 off-page and 5 on-page actions a month), 100 workflow trial runs and priority email support.
  • Enterprise: all 9 AI platforms (the FAQ names Perplexity, Claude, Microsoft Copilot, Grok, Google AI Mode and Muse Spark in addition to the three above), the full Action Center, custom limits, SSO/SAML and a dedicated AI search strategist. Writesonic’s docs say “10+ platforms,” so the platform count isn’t stated consistently either.

We follow the plan cards and FAQ here rather than the long comparison table, which shows many features as icons only.

Article limits

The monthly article allowance is 15 on Starter, 25 on Basic and 50 on Growth. The FAQ says “Growth plans can add more articles for $100/20 articles.” The sentence lists all three self-serve tiers right after it, so we can’t tell whether Starter and Basic can buy the add-on. Ask before you count on it.

Extra seats are also priced on the page: Basic can add up to 3 more users at $50 a month each (max 5), and Growth can add up to 2 more at $50 each (max 5). The FAQ doesn’t say whether Starter can add users.

A discrepancy to know about: Writesonic’s help-center plans page (last updated March 13, 2026) lists only Basic, Growth and Enterprise and gives higher numbers than the live pricing page: 100 articles a month on Basic and 200 on Growth, with 2 and 5 users. The live pricing page says 25 and 50 articles, and 2 and 3 users. We use the pricing page, since it’s the page you buy from and it includes the newer Starter plan, but confirm the limits on your checkout screen.

Free trial and refund

The pricing page says “Start free. No credit card needed” and its FAQ adds, “Sign up and explore Writesonic with full access.” The homepage button reads “Start 7-Day Free Trial,” but the pricing page doesn’t state a length, so confirm it at sign-up. The Terms define a trial as an evaluation period offered at Writesonic’s discretion.

On refunds, the pricing FAQ promises a “7-day, no-questions-asked refund.” The Terms of Service (last updated May 12, 2026) are more specific: if you buy through the online checkout, you can request a full refund of the initial subscription fee within 7 days of first purchase by emailing support; after that, fees are non-refundable except where the law requires otherwise. Enterprise and agency plans bought on an order form are non-refundable. The 7-day window, as written, applies to the first purchase, not renewals.

How to cancel

The Terms say online plans can be cancelled from the in-product account page at any time, effective at the end of the billing cycle. The pricing FAQ agrees that “downgrades and cancellations take effect next billing cycle” and says upgrades give “instant access.” Writesonic’s older cancellation guide (last updated March 2025) says you keep access until the cycle ends and that no prorated refunds are issued for partial months. That guide still mentions credits, so treat it as dated. A help-center article on changing plans (also March 2025) says changes start at the next billing cycle, which conflicts with the pricing page’s “instant” upgrades. Check the confirmation screen before you pay.

Key features

  • AI search visibility tracking: your brand across ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews on self-serve plans. The docs list visibility score, share of voice, sentiment and citation sources as the metrics.
  • AI Article Writer: a monthly allowance by plan; the comparison table also lists an “SEO & Content AI Agent” and content strategy tools.
  • Site audits: a set number of audits and pages per plan. The docs explain dozens of audit findings, from internal redirect chains to missing hreflang tags.
  • Integrations: the comparison table lists Google Search Console, WordPress, GA4 and Looker Studio as rows, but shows availability only as icons, so confirm what your tier includes.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Clear, published annual and monthly prices for the three self-serve tiers.
  • A free trial with no credit card needed, according to the pricing page.
  • Combines AI-search tracking, content production and site audits in one subscription, which saves stitching tools together.
  • A written 7-day refund window in the Terms of Service, plus published prices for extra seats.

Cons

  • The entry price is $79/mo billed annually, which is more than Jasper Pro at $59/mo per seat or Copy.ai’s Chat plan at $24/mo billed annually on the pages we checked. Those are different kinds of products (Jasper is built for brand-controlled marketing copy and Copy.ai for workflows), so this is a rough price reference, not a like-for-like comparison.
  • Article caps are modest (15, 25 and 50 a month), and the help center shows older, higher numbers.
  • The Action Center is only a limited trial on Growth, and agentic workflows are “trial runs” on every self-serve plan.
  • Self-serve tracking covers three AI platforms; all nine need Enterprise, which has no public price.
  • Writesonic’s own pages disagree on some limits, trial length and plan-change timing.

Who should (and shouldn’t) buy Writesonic

Good fit:

  • In-house SEO or content leads who need to show how their brand appears in AI answers.
  • Small agencies or consultants running one or two sites (Writesonic also has a separate “For Agencies” page we didn’t price).
  • Teams that already publish regularly and want audits and drafts in one tool.

Not a good fit:

  • Bloggers or freelancers who only want a drafting assistant: the entry price is high for that job.
  • Anyone who needs uncapped long-form output: articles are limited per plan.
  • Buyers who want guaranteed results: the pages describe features, and we haven’t measured outcomes.

Jasper is the closer match if your priority is brand-controlled marketing copy for a team. On October 26, 2026, its pricing page showed Pro at $59 per seat per month billed yearly or $69 monthly (the page labels the yearly option “Save ~20%”, though $59 against $69 works out to about 14.5% off), with 1 seat and a 7-day free trial. Business plans are custom and begin with a 12-month commitment, according to the page. Jasper also markets GEO tools, and its page says some features such as GEO Hub and Agents use credits. For more, read our Jasper AI review, the Jasper alternatives guide or Copy.ai vs Jasper.

Copy.ai has moved toward workflows for sales and marketing teams. Its pricing page showed a Chat plan at $29 a month billed monthly or $24 a month billed $288 a year, with 5 seats and unlimited words in Chat. Its higher tiers use “workflow credits” and list published prices: Growth at $1,000 a month (20K workflow credits), Expansion at $2,000 (45K) and Scale at $3,000 (75K), with Enterprise on request. It isn’t an SEO and AI-visibility platform, so it isn’t a like-for-like swap.

How we evaluated

We didn’t run output tests, and we don’t publish results we haven’t measured. On October 26, 2026, we read Writesonic’s official pricing page (rendered in a browser in annual and monthly views, plus the page source), its homepage, Terms of Service and help-center articles, then compared them with Jasper’s and Copy.ai’s official pricing pages the same morning. We scored:

  1. Price for a typical buyer: monthly and annual cost at each self-serve tier.
  2. Usage limits: articles, tracked prompts, audits, users and the cost of extras.
  3. Fit: whether the product matches a writing workflow or an SEO and AI-visibility workflow.
  4. Billing clarity: trial, refund and cancellation terms, and whether Writesonic’s pages agree with each other.
  5. Exit costs: when access ends after cancelling.

We didn’t use vendor-reported customer counts or testimonials as evidence.

Verdict

Writesonic is worth a look if you want to know how your brand shows up in AI answers and also need SEO articles and site audits. The price reflects that: $79 a month on annual billing for Starter, and much more as you scale. For drafts alone, look at Jasper or a lighter tool first.
