Quick picks by agency task
An agency doesn’t need “an AI tool.” It needs one tool per billable task that holds up across several clients: research, copy, video and the report that proves the work. This guide picks one tool per task, prices it per seat and per client from the official pricing pages, and flags the limits that bite once you pass three or four accounts.
We have not run client campaigns through these tools for this article, so there are no performance claims below — only what each vendor publishes.
The stack at a glance

Research and SEO
Research is where agencies spend the most analyst hours and where one subscription can cover several clients. Semrush prices by the number of websites and keywords you track, which maps neatly to client count.
Semrush — best for multi-client SEO research and tracking
Semrush’s pricing page (Check Semrush price) now splits classic SEO from AI search visibility. Official prices on October 24, 2026:
| Plan | Monthly | Billed annually | Websites | Keywords tracked daily | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | — | 1 | 10 | 10 Analytics requests/day |
| SEO | $139 | $117.33/mo | 5 | 500 | Keyword research, competitor analysis, Position Tracking, Site Audit |
| Starter (SEO + AI Search) | $199 | $165.17/mo | 5 | 500 | Adds 50 AI prompts tracked daily, MCP access, AI-ready Site Audit |
| Pro+ | $299 | $248.17/mo | 15 | 1,500 | Historical data, content optimization, cannibalization, multi-location |
| Advanced | Custom | Custom | 40+ | 5,000+ | API, team users, reporting, share of voice |
What matters for an agency:
- Client count drives the tier. Five websites covers a small roster; Pro+ raises that to 15. Semrush’s own FAQ points small agencies to SEO, Starter or Pro+, and agencies “with numerous clients” to Starter or Pro+.
- Seats cost extra. Additional users start at $45/mo each as an add-on, so a three-person team on the SEO plan pays more than the sticker price.
- AI search tracking is now a separate axis. If clients ask how their brand shows up in ChatGPT or Google AI Overviews, the SEO plan already lists AI-search monitoring and custom-prompt monitoring; Starter adds a bigger allowance (50 prompts tracked daily, one AI brand-visibility domain and 300 AI visibility reports a day).
- Trial: seven days free; Semrush places a nominal charge on the card to check it and refunds it immediately. You can cancel, downgrade or upgrade at any time unless you’re on custom terms.
- Lead generation add-on ($90/mo): a branded profile on Semrush’s Agency Partners platform with a verified badge. Useful only if inbound leads from that directory are part of your plan.

Copy and content
Copy is the task AI tools advertise most and the one where client review matters most. Pick a tool that keeps brand voices separate per client and caps output at a volume you can actually edit.
Writesonic — best for content plus AI search visibility
Writesonic (Check Writesonic price) has repositioned itself as an AI search visibility and SEO platform; AI article generation, site audits and brand voices are bundled into each plan. Official prices on October 24, 2026:
| Plan | Monthly | Billed annually | AI articles/mo | Users / projects | Brand voices / styles |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $99 | $79/mo | 15 | 1 user / 1 project | 1 brand voice |
| Basic | $249 | $199/mo | 25 | 2 users / 1 project | 5 writing styles |
| Growth | $499 | $399/mo | 50 | 3 users / 2 projects | 10 writing styles |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom | — | — | All 9 AI platforms, SSO/SAML |
Per Writesonic’s FAQ, Basic can add users at $50/mo each and Growth can add up to two more at $50 each, both to a maximum of five. Growth also sells 20 extra articles for $100/mo. You don’t need a card to start, and there’s a 7-day no-questions refund.
The agency plan is a different product. Writesonic’s agency pricing page lists Agency Starter at $200/mo billed annually ($250 monthly): 20 “pitch projects” a month (each runs 1–7 days), 2,000 answers a month, shareable audit reports and unlimited users. Converting a pitch into an ongoing client project starts at $150/project/mo. It covers all models except Claude and Muse Spark. White-label reporting and client workspaces sit in Agency Enterprise, which is custom-priced.
That makes Agency Starter a prospecting tool — run an AI-visibility audit, show it in the pitch — more than a copywriting seat. If your main need is long-form drafting with brand voice, compare options in our guide to the best AI writing tool for business and the Copy.ai vs Jasper comparison.
Video for clients
Short client videos — social cutdowns, product explainers, ad variations — are where small agencies lose the most hours to editing. A tool that generates clips and still gives you a timeline keeps a human editor in charge.
InVideo AI — best for team video with a real editor
InVideo (Check InVideo price) sells seats and monthly credits across its generative models. Official pricing on October 24, 2026:
| Plan | Billed annually | Monthly | Credits/seat/mo | Max seats | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $10/seat/mo | $20/seat/mo | 400 | 5 | Agent Two Lite; no guest seats; 200 GB |
| Plus | $30/seat/mo | Not shown | 2,000 | 10 | Lite/Pro/Ultra agents; 1080p and 4K models |
| Max | $75/seat/mo | Not shown | 5,000 (10k/15k options) | 20 | Lowest cost per credit; 2,000 GB |
Points that matter for agency work:
- Every plan includes the timeline editor, multiplayer editing, color, audio and 3D tools, so a junior editor and a reviewer can work in the same project.
- Credits don’t roll over, and InVideo says credit costs per model may change without notice. Budget per month, not per quarter.
- Seat caps: Starter stops at 5 seats; Plus at 10; Max at 20.
- Free plan: no card required, limited credits that reset weekly (Monday 00:00 UTC), per InVideo’s help center (updated July 28, 2026).
- A promo banner on the pricing page offered unlimited image-model use for 30 days on annual plans when we checked. Treat it as temporary.
Before you put AI footage in a client ad, check the client’s own policy on generative media and the ad platform’s disclosure rules.
Reporting and workflows
Reporting is what clients see every month, so it’s worth paying for the part that removes manual screenshots.
- Semrush Base Report ($10/mo): pulls data from 20+ Semrush tools plus Google Analytics and Google Search Console, with scheduling and PDF export.
- Semrush Pro Report ($20/mo): adds 20+ external integrations, white-labeling, AI summaries and link sharing. This is the add-on that lets reports go out under your agency’s brand.
- Writesonic agency reports: Agency Starter includes a dashboard and shareable audit reports; white-label reporting is listed under Agency Enterprise (custom).
- Free option: Google Looker Studio connects to Google Search Console and Google Analytics at no cost if you’re willing to build templates yourself.
A workable monthly loop: research and rank tracking in Semrush → drafts from your writing tool, edited by a person → video cutdowns in InVideo → one branded report per client from Semrush Pro Report.
Pricing per seat and per client
Sticker prices hide the two numbers an agency owner cares about: cost per team member and cost per client. Here is the arithmetic from the official prices above, for a three-person team on monthly billing. These are our calculations, not vendor quotes, and they leave out taxes and promos.
| Setup | Monthly cost | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Semrush SEO + 2 extra users ($139 + 2 × $45) | $229 | 3 users, 5 websites → about $46 per client at 5 clients |
| Semrush Pro+ + 2 extra users ($299 + 2 × $45) | $389 | 3 users, 15 websites → about $26 per client at 15 clients |
| Writesonic Growth | $499 | 3 users, 2 projects, 50 AI articles |
| Writesonic Agency Starter (monthly) | $250 | Unlimited users, 20 pitch projects/mo; ongoing clients from $150/project/mo |
| InVideo Starter × 3 seats ($20 × 3) | $60 | 1,200 credits/mo total |
| Semrush Pro Report add-on | $20 | White-label client reports |

Annual billing lowers each line: Semrush says up to 17% on annual plans, Writesonic 20%, and InVideo Starter drops from $20 to $10 per seat.
Two rules of thumb fall out of the math:
- Per-website pricing favors growth. Semrush’s cost per client drops as you fill the website slots, so moving from SEO to Pro+ pays off around the point you outgrow five sites.
- Per-user pricing punishes big teams. Writesonic’s standard plans cap at five users, so a larger content team should price the agency plan or Enterprise instead.
How we evaluated
We assigned one tool per agency task and checked each on its official US pricing page, FAQ or help center on October 24, 2026, 01:07–01:13 BRT (USD). We weighted per-seat and per-client limits, team features (extra users, seat caps, shared editing), reporting and white-label options, free trials and refund terms. We did not run client work through these tools for this article, so we make no claims about output quality, rankings or campaign results. Ranking follows fit for the task and published limits, not commission. Free, non-affiliate options are mentioned where they do the job.
FAQ
What AI tools do marketing agencies use?
Most agencies cover four tasks: an SEO research and rank-tracking platform (such as Semrush), an AI writing or content tool (such as Writesonic), a video tool with an editor (such as InVideo AI) and a reporting layer. Pick by task and client count rather than buying one all-in-one tool.
Is Semrush worth it for agencies?
It fits when you manage several client sites. The SEO plan covers 5 websites and 500 tracked keywords for $139/mo ($117.33/mo annually), Pro+ covers 15 websites for $299/mo, and white-label reports cost $20/mo extra. Budget $45/mo per additional user. If you handle one or two sites, a cheaper tool may be enough: Semrush’s free account is a single demo project, not a working agency plan.
Can AI replace agency copywriters?
No tool we cover claims that, and clients still need someone accountable for accuracy, brand voice and legal review. AI drafting tools cut first-draft time; a writer or editor still checks facts, adapts the voice per client and signs off. Plan for human review on every deliverable.
