Quick take

Copy.ai: Chat plan $24/mo billed $288/yr ($29 month to month) for 5 seats; Workflow plans start at $1,000/mo billed $12,000/yr. See Copy.ai pricing
Jasper (alternative): Pro $59/mo per seat billed yearly, 7-day free trial. Check Jasper price

Verdict in 30 seconds

Copy.ai is really two products under one name. Chat is a low-cost AI writing assistant for small teams: $24/mo billed yearly for 5 seats, with unlimited words in Chat and access to OpenAI, Anthropic and Gemini models. Workflows is a go-to-market (GTM) automation platform for sales and marketing teams, and it starts at $12,000 a year.

Buy Chat if you’re a small team that wants a shared AI writing tool for the price of one seat elsewhere. Look at Workflows only if you have a sales or marketing ops team ready to build repeatable processes like lead research, account plans or content at scale. Pick Jasper or Writesonic instead if you want a marketing-content tool with a published trial and features built for brand content or SEO writing, at a price between those two extremes.

What Copy.ai is in 2026: Chat vs Workflows

Copy.ai started as a copywriting app. Today its homepage calls it “The First AI-Native GTM Platform” and promises to “Infuse AI across your go-to-market engine with a single platform — not dozens of copilots and point solutions.” Its platform menu lists Workflows, Copy Agents, an Intelligence Layer, Tables, Actions, Infobase, Brand Voice and Chat.

That shift matters for buyers, because the two halves are priced in very different ways:

  • Chat is billed per plan (5 seats included) and sold self-serve. You get unlimited words inside Chat and unlimited Chat projects.
  • Workflows run on workflow credits. Copy.ai defines a Workflow as “a set of AI-powered actions that are stitched together to codify a process or best practices (eg. create account plan, write SEO article).” Each run uses credits based on how many steps and how much content it produces.

The use cases Copy.ai highlights are mostly GTM: a Prospecting Cockpit for sales outreach, inbound lead processing, account-based marketing, deal coaching and forecasting from sales transcripts, translation and localization, CRM enrichment, and content creation (SEO, thought leadership, social).

If you were hoping for a cheap, simple copywriting tool, Chat is the part for you. If you were hoping for a full content-marketing suite with SEO scoring, Copy.ai isn’t positioned that way anymore.

Copy.ai Chat vs Workflow pricing checked October 25, 2026

Chat plan

At $24/mo billed yearly ($288 a year), Chat works out to under $5 per seat per month when all 5 seats are in use. That’s our math from the official price, not a per-seat price Copy.ai sells. Month to month, it’s $29. The plan includes:

  • 5 seats
  • Unlimited words in Chat
  • Unlimited Chat projects
  • Access to OpenAI, Anthropic and Gemini models

The pricing page doesn’t list workflow credits for Chat, so plan on Chat being for writing and conversation, not automated multi-step runs.

Workflow tiers (Growth, Expansion, Scale)

The jump from Chat to Growth is steep: $288 a year to $12,000 a year. In return you get 75 seats and 20K workflow credits a month. Expansion and Scale add seats and credits, and both go through Copy.ai’s accounts team.

How far 20K credits go depends on what you build. Copy.ai says “a credit’s value depends on the complexity of the tasks,” and that “the more steps and content a workflow generates, the more it’ll cost in credits.” You can see the credits used per run in the side panel, and Copy.ai says you can add credits later. There’s no fixed “credits per article” number, so get an estimate from Copy.ai’s team before you commit.

Enterprise adds guided jumpstart implementation, API access and bulk workflow runs, 20+ tech integrations, unlimited customizable workflows, a designated account and support team, and “Enterprise Grade Security Protocols.”

Trial, refunds and canceling

Copy.ai’s site shows a “Try for free” button, but the pricing page doesn’t list a free plan or spell out trial terms. Its Terms of Service say free-trial terms, when offered, “will be provided at signup.”

On refunds, Copy.ai’s Terms of Service say you can cancel “for a full refund within five (5) calendar days of your initial purchase.” After that, the purchase is final, and cancellation takes effect at the end of the current subscription period.

To cancel, Copy.ai’s help docs say to click your workspace name, open Subscription, then Manage Billing, then Cancel Plan. Your plan stays active until the end of the billing cycle, then converts to the Free plan. On that Free plan, you can still view saved workflows but can’t run new generations until you resubscribe or buy credits. The help docs also say Copy.ai “does not issue refunds for partial billing periods.” The Terms of Service list cancel@copy.ai as another way to cancel.

For self-serve plans, upgrades are prorated for the rest of the month, and downgrades show up as a credit on next month’s bill.

Key features

  • Chat with multiple model families. OpenAI, Anthropic and Gemini models in one workspace, with unlimited words.
  • Workflows. Chains of AI actions that “combine research, content generation, and tool integrations,” for example writing an SEO article or building an account plan.
  • Actions and Tables. The building blocks of workflows and a place to keep the data they use.
  • Brand Voice and Infobase. Listed on the platform menu for keeping output on brand and grounded in your company’s information.
  • Copy Agents. Listed as a platform component for automating GTM tasks.
  • Integrations and API. Enterprise lists 20+ tech integrations, API access and bulk workflow runs.
  • Security. Copy.ai publishes a Trust Center and writes about SOC 2 compliance; enterprise security protocols are part of the Enterprise plan.

Pros and cons

Pros
– Chat is cheap for a team: 5 seats for $24/mo billed yearly.
– Unlimited words in Chat, with OpenAI, Anthropic and Gemini models.
– Workflows can automate full GTM processes, not just single drafts.
– 5-day full refund window on the initial purchase, per the Terms of Service.
– Clear self-serve upgrade and downgrade rules.

Cons
– Huge price gap between Chat ($288/yr) and Growth ($12,000/yr).
– Credit costs vary by workflow, so budgeting takes a scoping call.
– No published free plan or trial terms on the pricing page.
– No refunds for partial billing periods after the first 5 days.
– Less focused on SEO content scoring than dedicated content tools.

Who should (and shouldn’t) buy

Good fit:
– Small marketing teams (up to 5 people) that want shared AI writing help at a low cost (Chat).
– Mid-size and larger sales and marketing orgs with ops support, ready to codify prospecting, lead processing or ABM into repeatable workflows (Growth and up).
– Companies that want one vendor for GTM automation instead of several point tools.

Not a good fit:
– Solo writers who want a tool built around long-form marketing content and a published trial. Jasper fits that better.
– Bloggers and SEO writers who want article and SEO-focused writing plans. Writesonic is the more natural fit.
– Teams with a mid-range budget. Nothing sits between $288 a year and $12,000 a year.

How we evaluated

We didn’t run output tests, and we don’t publish results we haven’t measured. On October 25, 2026, we read Copy.ai’s official pricing page, homepage, Terms of Service and help docs, and compared them with Jasper’s and Writesonic’s official pricing pages the same morning. We scored:

  1. Price for a typical team: cost per seat and per year at each tier.
  2. Billing clarity: how credits, trials, refunds and cancellations are explained.
  3. Fit: whether the product matches what a marketing team actually needs.
  4. Scope: chat writing vs multi-step automation.
  5. Exit costs: what you keep and lose after canceling.

We didn’t use vendor-reported customer results or user counts as evidence.
